针会天下曾于去年11月份报道了美国的针灸组织ACAOM将博士学位正名为ChineseMedicine，代替之前的OrientalMedicine这一歧视性的名称（参见：美国的中医正名曙光隐现）。
日前，针会天下又获悉一个来自纽约的消息，纽约州教育厅正式批准纽约中医学院的东方医学硕士学位（OrientalMedicine）改为中医学硕士学位（TraditionalChineseMedicine）。美国中医在正名的道路上又迈出坚定的一步。
据纽约中医学院陈业孟院长介绍，目前全美只有美洲中医学院、科罗拉多中医学院、五系大学中医研究生院、友三中医大学和纽约中医学院等5所学校的校名和专业名均为中医（TraditionalChineseMedicine），其他大部分学校的校名或者专业名仍然叫东方医学（OrientalMedicine）。纽约中医学院也是纽约州5所针灸学校中唯一授予中医学硕士学位（TraditionalChineseMedicine)的中医学院。
